Comment on Alex's Blog

I commented on the link,  Update in Shavon Alexander's blog. Here is the comment:

I can totally relate to your format issue! My computer is really old which means my Microsoft work is just as old and all my papers are saved as a wps format which doesn't open anywhere besides the school's computers. It is very annoying and I can't wait for buying myself a new computer for Christmas :)

Some Final Thoughts...

I just got home from work. Today was a tough day besides handing in my final research paper for this class, I also had my research paper on Chernobyl due for my chemistry class and I had a 5 minutes presentation. I am so glad I've got these two papers over with. I enjoyed writing this research paper, I got to conduct interviews with a couple of family members which was really fun. My dad's interview especially because he is very comic and for some reason when he talks about sacrifices and hard times he tends to be even more comic. Some of the questions in my interviews addresses their limitations and sacrifices they had to make at first. Also, I got to research how the economy in Brazil works, it's education and infrastructure and I enjoyed it because I am always so busy with work and school that sometimes I have no idea what's happening there. However, I didn't enjoy writing my chemistry paper so much, but what I learned in this class made it much easier for me to write my chemistry research paper. I feel like I gained a lot from this class.

Up to Date :)

I am glad that now I am up to date with my work for this class and I can finally start writing my paper. I am not going to lie, I am a little nervous about writing the paper because its so long, but I've got so much work done already that it shouldn't be difficult to start. I am happy that Ginger is giving us enough time to revise our first draft, this way she is giving us the chance to get a perfect grade on our final paper.

Catching up

Today I decided to go to the school library and catch up with all my work missing for this class. I've been overwhelmed with my commute, school, and work and now I am a little behind. I know that if I go home straight from school today I wont get any work done because my bed is just too tempting for me to resist. So I decided to take the only day of the week that I just have school and not work, to spend some time in the library and catch up.

Quotation Paragraphs Week

This week we will work on our quotations. I am very excited to do this because, the sandwich paragraphs we will have to write for this assignment, after reviewed by Ginger, can easily be used in our final paper. Despite having accurate introduced quotes, it is a great way to increase our writing and be able to write at least 7 pages. I will try to write the most sandwich paragraphs possible for this assignment.

Annotated Bibliography Week.

This week I did my annotated bibliography. That means i had to find five secondary sources that I should use in my final paper. I feel like after doing my annotated bibliography I will basically have half of my paper done. The summary that we have to include for each source can easily be used in my paper, despite that my works cited page will be ready. I found this assignment very helpful.

My first working thesis

I felt like this week was very productive. I chose the immigration topic and started off with a very broad idea which is "The American Dream." Then I did a little research on it by browsing the web and  informal interviews with close people I know migrated here. I came to the conclusion that most of them migrated because of job opportunities. Furthermore, after doing exercise 3.15 on page 93 on the textbook, I was able to narrow my topic even more and create a working thesis: Most Brazilians migrated to the U.S. hoping to find better work opportunities so that they are able to save and invest their money, instead of  settling for enough money to pay the bills.
